West Asia crisis halted flights, huge upheaval in travel booking… Know what IATO said
New Delhi: The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) on Sunday said it has seen a significant increase in requests for cancellation and postponement of travel bookings due to restrictions on airspace due to the Middle East crisis. Its biggest impact has been on the routes connecting India to Europe through the major centers of the Gulf countries.
IATO President Ravi Gosain said that travel agents across the country are working closely with airlines and foreign partners to minimize inconvenience to passengers. Under this, the facility of alternative route, change in booking and money refund is being provided.
“Although short-term uncertainty remains, we are hopeful that the situation will stabilize soon,” he said. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their agents and not panic and cancel bookings, as in most cases the airline companies are offering reasonable options.
Due to the increasing conflict between Israel, America and Iran, many airfields in West Asia have been closed, due to which aircraft operations have been largely affected.
