Priyanka Gandhi, Omar Abdullah and Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned Khamenei’s death.

New Delhi, March 1. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi have strongly condemned the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the joint US-Israeli attack.

In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi, without naming US President Donald Trump or Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that due to these increasing cases, many countries are now trapped in war.

He wrote, ‘The targeted assassination of the leadership of a sovereign country and the killing of many innocent people by the so-called leaders of the democratic world is abhorrent and should be strongly condemned, no matter what the reason given for it. It is sad that many countries are now caught in the fight.

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his meetings with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, Priyanka Gandhi quoted Mahatma Gandhi’s famous saying, ‘An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind’ and expressed hope that he would give priority to bringing Indian citizens home safely.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealed for peace amid large protests on Sunday following the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Abdullah said his government is working closely with the Union Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in Iran, including students.

“The Chief Minister has expressed deep concern over the developments taking place in Iran, including the news of the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on Twitter. He has appealed to all communities to remain calm, maintain peace and avoid any action that may lead to tension or unrest.

Meanwhile, AIMIM MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, strongly condemned the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and called it ‘completely condemnable, wrong and illegal’. He expressed concern over the deaths of more than 200 people, including 108 girls, in school strikes and warned that these attacks could destabilize the entire region.

Owaisi wrote on X, ‘Trump-Israel’s attacks on Iran are completely condemnable. This, especially when Iran-US talks were going on in Geneva. More than 200 people have been killed across Iran. Of these, 108 people were killed when the girls’ school was attacked. The assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei is a wrong and illegal act. my deepest condolences. These attacks on Iran should stop as soon as possible otherwise the entire region will be trapped in instability.

Earlier on Sunday morning, Iran’s state media confirmed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a major attack by Israel and America. State media said Khamenei, 86, was killed in an airstrike targeting his compound in downtown Tehran. Airbus satellite images showed that the site had been heavily bombed.
