Gift to the women of Delhi: President will issue Pink Mobility Card for free travel in DTC buses, will replace ticket

Taking inspiration from the Central Government’s ‘One Nation, One Card’, the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi is going to launch the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for the women residents of the capital. On Monday, March 2, Her Excellency the President of the country Draupadi Murmu will launch this ambitious scheme (Pink Card) in a special and grand program ‘Strong Women Prosperous Delhi’ at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Travel in metro and rapid rail with a single card

Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta says that this card will provide free travel facility in DTC buses to women resident of Delhi. It will also provide paid facility in Metro, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and other public transport services through a single smart card. According to the Chief Minister, this initiative is an important step towards making public transport more accessible, safe and digital. This will reduce the daily travel expenses of women and give them easier access to education, employment, health and social opportunities.

Three types of cards will be issued

The Chief Minister said that three types of NCMC cards will be issued under the scheme. The Pink Card will be for eligible women resident of Delhi, while the Blue Card will be issued for general travelers and the Orange Card for monthly pass users. Pink and Blue cards will be launched in the initial phase, after which the Orange card will be implemented.

Delhi government will bear all the expenses

He informed that Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has authorized Hindon Mercantile Limited (Mufinpay) and Airtel Payments Bank Limited to issue the card. These cards will be integrated with the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) already implemented in Delhi’s public transport system. Pink Card will be given to eligible women completely free of cost and its entire cost will be borne by the Delhi Government.

Pink cards will be available at these places

According to the Chief Minister, around 50 centers will be set up to issue the cards, which will include District Magistrate (DM) and SDM offices as well as selected centers of DTC. This card will be done on the basis of minimum documents so that the process remains simple, fast and transparent. Each pink card will be linked to the beneficiary’s mobile number and Aadhaar. Authentication through Aadhaar will confirm age (above 5 years), gender (female) and Delhi residence (based on Delhi PIN code), ensuring eligibility and preventing duplication.

Pink card will replace ticket

This will be a touch-free and secure smart card. With this, accurate digital records of every journey will be maintained. Cash transactions will be less and income accounting will be more clean and transparent. With the help of travel data, it will be easier to decide bus routes, correct the number of buses and take better decisions. This card will replace the pink paper ticket, which will make the entire system more easy and modern.
