PM Modi speaks to UAE President, thanks him for safeguarding Indian community amid regional tensions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and strongly condemned the recent attacks on the United Arab Emirates, expressing solidarity with the Gulf nation during what he described as difficult times.
In a post on social media, Modi said he “strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks,” adding that India stands in solidarity with the UAE.
The Prime Minister also thanked Sheikh Mohamed for ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community residing in the UAE. Millions of Indians live and work in the Emirates, making it one of the largest expatriate populations in the country.
“We support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability,” Modi said, underlining India’s consistent position in favour of dialogue and stability amid heightened tensions in the region.
The conversation between the two leaders comes amid escalating regional developments that have raised concerns over security in parts of the Middle East. India has maintained close diplomatic ties with the UAE and has repeatedly emphasised the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring the safety of Indian nationals abroad.
India and the UAE share strong strategic, economic and people-to-people relations, with cooperation spanning trade, energy, defence and diaspora engagement.
Further diplomatic engagements are expected as regional tensions continue to unfold.
