T20 World Cup 2026: India reaches semi-finals of T20 World Cup, defeats West Indies by 5 wickets
New Delhi: Team India has made it to the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026. India defeated West Indies in the last match of Super-8 and secured the last spot for the semi-finals of the tournament. Sanju Samson played a big role in taking India to the semi-finals, who displayed excellent batting. While Sanju made a record with his innings, Team India chased its highest score in the T20 World Cup on his own.
Samson made India win against West Indies
In the match played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, West Indies had set a target of 196 runs for India to win. To chase this target, the pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma came to the crease. The pair made a bright start but were not able to establish themselves much.
Abhishek Sharma was out after scoring 10 runs. Ishan Rishan, who came after Abhishek, also could not bat much. He also got out after scoring only 10 runs. However, amidst the wickets falling from one end, Sanju Samson, standing at the other end, was trying to implement his intention well.

Sanju Samson batted against West Indies until India won the match. He entered in the opening and finished the match. Sanju Samson played an unbeaten inning of 97 runs in 50 balls against West Indies. This innings, played at a strike rate of 104, included 4 sixes apart from 12 fours. This was the biggest innings by any Indian batsman in the run chase of the T20 World Cup. Earlier this record of 82 runs was in the name of Virat Kohli.
