Varun Chakraborty’s googly surprises Shai Hope
In this match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first. At the same time, West Indies started very cautiously. Openers Shai Hope and Roston Chase added runs without taking any risk and added 68 runs in 8.5 overs for the first wicket. Indian bowlers were not able to take wickets and the Caribbean pair was slowly gaining hold of the match.
Then captain Surya handed the ball to mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty. Varun, who came to bowl the 9th over of the innings, bowled the googly of the last ball. Coming at a speed of 99.2 km/hr, this ball pitched near the off stump and turned inwards. Shai Hope wanted to play a shot on the backfoot, but could not read the line. The ball hit the middle stump directly and the wickets shattered. In this way the opening partnership of 68 runs was broken and India got the much needed wicket.
