Chaibasa A fierce encounter took place between security forces and the banned Maoist organization CPI-Maoist in the dense Saranda forest of West Singhbhum district in the early hours of Sunday. There was firing from both sides during the combing operation at around 5 in the morning in Chotanagra and Jaraikela police station areas.

During the encounter, an IED exploded in Marangponga area, in which Cobra Battalion Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik and Head Constable Vikram Yadav were injured. On the other hand, there is information that another soldier is also injured. The injured have been immediately airlifted to Ranchi, while preparations are underway to airlift another injured soldier.

According to sources, intermittent firing is going on between the security forces and Naxalites. Security agencies estimate that some big Naxalite leader may be present in the area.
Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and an intensive search operation is being conducted. Naxalites are also likely to suffer losses, although this has not been officially confirmed. Currently, the search operation is going on and additional forces have been sent to the area.
