Indian Airlines may cancel 444 international flights, thousands of passengers affected
New Delhi: Indian airlines are likely to cancel 444 international flights on Sunday due to airspace restrictions in West Asia, the Civil Aviation Ministry said. The Civil Aviation Ministry on Saturday reviewed the preparedness of aviation stakeholders in the wake of flight disruptions in the wake of the strikes on Iran by Israel and the US.
“Due to restrictions on airspace over Iran and parts of West Asia, 410 domestic airline flights were canceled on February 28 and 444 flights are expected to be canceled on March 1,” the ministry said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday morning.
Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is working closely with airline companies to ensure full compliance with safety and operational rules. Additionally, operational alerts have been issued at major airports to avoid possible diversions and ensure smooth travel of passengers.
Passenger assistance, airline coordination and crowd management at the terminal are being closely monitored and senior officials have been deployed, the ministry said. The Ministry said that the Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) is continuously monitoring the concerns of passengers and facilitating their prompt resolution.
“On February 28, Airseva recorded 216 complaints and 105 complaints were resolved during the same period, thereby ensuring necessary assistance to the affected passengers,” the ministry said.
