The Kerala Story 2 earnings: First weekend analysis
The Kerala Story 2 begins
Mumbai: The much talked about and controversial film ‘The Kerala Story 2’ earned relatively less at the box office on its first day. There was doubt among the audience whether the film was actually released in theatres. The impact of this confusion was clearly seen on the opening of the film, where only Rs 75 lakh was collected on the first day, which is very less for a film with a big banner and a hot topic.
Second and third day earnings
However, the film’s fortunes changed on Saturday. On the second day, the film earned Rs 4.65 crore. The momentum continued on Sunday as well, and the film collected around Rs 5 crore. Thus, the total earning in three days reached Rs 10.40 crore.
The Kerala Story collection on the third day
According to trade reports, if the film had a better opening, the collection could have gone around Rs 15 crore in the first weekend. Still, crossing Rs 10 crore in the current situation is a positive sign for the film. Producer Vipul Shah’s film is lagging behind its first installment, which had made an impressive collection of Rs 35.43 crore in the first weekend.
Earnings and Budget Analysis
According to reports, the budget of ‘The Kerala Story 2’ is approximately between Rs 28 to Rs 30 crore. Earning Rs 10.40 crore in the first weekend can be considered a satisfactory start. But the real challenge will begin now. The film will have to show a steady performance on Monday to survive at the box office. Usually the earnings of films decline after the weekend. If ‘The Kerala Story 2’ passes the Monday test and continues to earn well on weekdays, it will be a strong step towards recouping its budget.
film cast
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, Aishwarya Ojha, Sumit Gehlawat, Arjan Singh Aujla and Yuktam Khosla in lead roles. The audience’s opinion on the artistes’ performance has been mixed.
