Sensational incident in Samaypur Badli, Delhi; Murderous husband who slit the throats of wife and 3 daughters arrested, gambling debt made him a monster
According to Delhi Police, Munchun Kevat, accused of murdering a pregnant wife and three daughters in Samaypur Badli area, has made many shocking revelations after his arrest. During interrogation, he told that he had fallen into huge debt due to betting on cricket and other sports. He borrowed money to repay the loan, but lost about Rs 1 lakh in gambling. According to the accused, he was allegedly given threatening remarks during a recovery call, following which he decided to destroy the family. According to the police, shortly after the call, he bought a vegetable/jackfruit cutting knife for around Rs 90 and killed his wife and daughters with it.
According to Delhi Police, the accused Munchun lived with his wife and three daughters in a rented room in Chandan Park area of Sirsapur. He was originally from Bihar and used to sell vegetables in Azadpur Mandi. Investigation has revealed that he was addicted to gambling and betting. The accused used to bet on cricket matches and other sports online and offline. Due to continuous losses, he was deeply in debt, due to which his financial condition became very bad.
Borrowed to pay off debt, lost half of it in gambling
During interrogation, accused Munchun told that last month he had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from his in-laws. Out of these, 60 thousand rupees were returned to a lender named Mithilesh and 40 thousand rupees were given to a garlic supplier. However, he again invested the remaining Rs 1 lakh in gambling and betting, in which he lost the entire amount. According to the investigating officers, the family was going through huge debts and financial crisis, due to which there was a constant state of tension in the house.
Threat was given on phone regarding wife and children: Munchun
Accused Munchun told during interrogation that on February 23, a lender named Mithilesh called him and asked him to repay the entire loan immediately. During this time there was a heated argument and altercation between the two on the phone. It is alleged that during the conversation, Mithilesh allegedly threatened that if he did not pay the money, he would keep his wife Anita (30) with himself and would also make the children work. According to the police, enraged by this alleged threat, Munchun blocked her number and then took the dreadful decision of killing himself and his entire family.

According to Delhi Police, accused Munchun bought a knife from the market at around 1 o’clock that day and brought it home and hid it. Police say that he had planned to commit the crime the same night, but due to some reason could not do so. The next day also he returned home at around one o’clock. Like every Tuesday, he was fasting that day and in the evening he took his wife and daughters to the market for Holi shopping.
According to the police, the situation became more tense in the night when wife Anita told him that Mithilesh had also called her. After this, at around 11.30 pm, there was a heated fight between the husband and wife, which made the incident more serious.
First the wife and then the daughters were killed.
According to Delhi Police, accused Munchun did not sleep that night. At around 4 in the morning, when his wife Anita woke up and asked her husband the reason for waking up, he took out a hidden knife and attacked her. The police also found signs of a brief struggle between the two from the spot. According to the investigation, during the attack, the elder daughter woke up after hearing the sound and started crying, after which the accused murdered her too. After this he did not leave his two other daughters also. It is being told that Anita was two months pregnant, due to which a total of five people died in this incident. The accused told the police that after the incident he also wanted to commit suicide, but could not do so. At present, the police is investigating the matter in depth and a chargesheet is being prepared by connecting the links of the entire incident.
How was Munchun caught?
After committing the crime, the accused Munchun fled towards Ajmer, where he had earlier worked. He boarded a train bound for Ajmer, but got down at Kishangarh station before reaching there. Here, six teams were formed under the leadership of Special CP (Law and Order) Ravindra. Within 72 hours, the police scanned the footage of about 800 CCTV cameras and traced the movement and escape routes of the accused.
After being caught in Kishangarh, Munchun told that he used to sleep in the market there and was making his living by buying food from roadside carts. Investigation also revealed that his name had earlier been linked to a theft case in Adarsh Nagar area. Apart from this, he had also posted his photographs with the weapon on social media.
