PM Modi spoke to Netanyahu on phone, appealed to end hostilities in the Middle East soon
New Delhi: The Middle East region is in the grip of fierce conflict, where the US and Israel have launched intense attacks on Iran. Several top officials, including Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have been killed in these attacks, causing regional tensions to reach their peak. Apart from Israel, Iran has targeted countries like UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait in retaliatory attacks, causing instability across West Asia.
In such a critical time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an important telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While posting about this meeting on social media, PM Modi said that they discussed the regional situation in detail. He expressed India’s deep concern over the recent developments and described the safety of civilians as the top priority. The Prime Minister clearly said that there is a need to end the hostilities immediately.
Also spoke to UAE President, condemned the attacks
Earlier, PM Modi also spoke on phone with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and expressed his deepest condolences to those killed. PM Modi said that India stands in full solidarity with the UAE in this difficult time. He also expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for the safety and care of the Indian community living there. He stressed that it is necessary to reduce tensions and promote regional peace, security and stability.
Review of situation in CCS meeting
In view of the serious circumstances arising after the US-Israel attacks on Iran and Khamenei’s death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). This meeting took place at the PM’s residence late on Sunday evening, which lasted for about three hours. In this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister S. Prominent members including Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended. The meeting discussed the implications of the Israel-Iran conflict, security of Indian citizens and regional stability.
India has adopted a balanced approach in this crisis, advocating peace and de-escalation, with special emphasis on the safety of civilians.
