8th Pay Commission: Estimate on new salary of ₹44,900 grade-pay employees?

New Delhi. Fitment factor plays the most important role in determining the basic salary of central employees. In the last 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57, due to which the minimum salary increased from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000. Now the discussion regarding fitment factor is in full swing in the 8th Pay Commission, and the new salary is being estimated on the basis of three possible estimates 1.92, 2.08 and 2.86.

How is basic salary determined by fitment factor?

The simple formula to calculate basic salary is:

New Basic Salary = Existing Basic Pay × Fitment Factor

This means that the basic pay of any employee will increase in proportion to the fitment factor from the current level.

₹44,900 Estimate for basic pay people

If the basic of Level 7 employees in the 8th Pay Commission is ₹ 44,900, then the possible new salary can be as follows:

1.92 fitment factor New Basic Salary (Approximate): ₹86,208

2.08 fitment factor New Basic Salary (Approximate): ₹93,392

2.86 fitment factor New Basic Salary (Approximate): ₹1,28,414

Will the employees benefit from this?

If the fitment factor is set high, there will be a significant increase in the salaries of the employees. This will not only improve the standard of living of the existing employees, but the increase in pay scale will also strengthen purchasing power and financial stability.

Experts believe that the final fitment factor will be decided on the basis of the government budget and the recommendations of the Central Committee. The actual impact of the salary increase and new salary as per the decision of the 8th Pay Commission will become clear in 2026.
