In a statement posted on social media, the Afghan Defense Ministry said that the attacks took place on Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. Apart from this, the headquarters of 12th Division in Quetta, Balochistan and Khwajai Camp in Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also bombed. The Taliban claim that they have also caused heavy damage to many other important military command centers of Pakistan.
According to the Defense Ministry, this operation is a revenge for the recent infiltration of the Pakistani Army. Pakistan had recently attacked Kabul and Bagram airbase. The ministry has warned that if Pakistan again violates Afghan airspace or takes any aggressive action, it will get an even stronger and decisive response.
This tension increased further when Pakistan declared open war against Afghanistan. Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Kabul and Kandahar on Friday. The structure of the base was badly damaged in that attack.
