Blackpink’s Rosé becomes 1st K-pop artist to win Brit Awards

According to The Korea Timesthe singer won International Song of the Year at the 46th Brit Awards ceremony held Saturday in Manchester for “APT.,” her collaboration with American pop star Bruno Mars.

“Give a shout out to Blackpink: Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa, I love you guys so much,” Rosé said on stage after receiving the award. “Thank you for always inspiring me.”

She also acknowledged Bruno Mars in her speech.

“Bruno, I’m receiving this award on behalf of both of us. Thank you so much for everything, for being my biggest mentor and best friend.”

Rosé further expressed gratitude to Teddy, founder and chief producer of her agency The Black Label.

“APT.,” a pre-release single from her first studio album “rosie,” became a global sensation following its release in October 2024. The track combines bright pop harmonies with an infectious refrain inspired by the popular Korean drinking pastime known as the “apartment game,” according to The Korea Herald.

The song spent 45 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, the longest run ever for a K-pop track, peaking at No. 3. In the U.K., it climbed to No. 2 on the U.K. Singles Chart and remained on the chart for more than a year.

In September 2025, the track earned Rosé two trophies at the MTV Video Music Awards, including the top honor for Song of the Year.

“APT.” was also nominated at this year’s Grammy Awards in the general field categories of Song of the Year and Record of the Year, as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, but did not secure a win.

Born Roseanne Park in New Zealand and raised in Australia, the 29-year-old signed with South Korea-based agency YG Entertainment after a successful audition in 2012. She debuted as a vocalist with Blackpink in 2016 and launched her solo career five years later with the album “R.”

Mars, 41, born Peter Gene Hernandez, first gained attention in Hawaii as a child for his impersonations of “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley before moving to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue a music career. He has since become one of pop music’s most celebrated icons.
