Schedule of Afghanistan’s tour of India announced, New Chandigarh will host the first test
New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the schedule of Afghanistan’s tour of India. New Chandigarh grounds are going to witness a historic moment in June. The ground will host the one-off Test match to be played between India and Afghanistan from June 6 to 10.
With this, New Chandigarh will become India’s 31st Test venue. This match will be part of Afghanistan’s tour of India. So far, IPL matches, one men’s T20 International and some women’s ODI matches have been played on this ground, but this will be the first time that a five-day Test match will be held here.
The match will start every day at 9:30 am (Indian time). This tour of Afghanistan will not be limited to test matches only. After the Test, a three-match ODI series will also be played between the two teams. The first ODI will be held on 14 June 2026 in Dharamshala, the second on 17 June in Lucknow and the third on 20 June in Chennai. All three ODI matches will start at 1:30 pm.
Afghanistan last played a bilateral series in India in 2024, which was a three-match T20 International series. Only one Test match has been played between the two teams in India so far, which was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in 2018.
India tour schedule of Afghanistan:
Sole Test: 6-10 June, New Chandigarh – 9:30 am
1st ODI: June 14, Dharamshala – 1:30 pm
2nd ODI: June 17, Lucknow – 1:30 pm
3rd ODI: June 20, Chennai – 1:30 pm
This tour is considered important for both the teams, especially from the point of view of Test cricket, where Afghanistan will get a chance to prove itself against the strong Indian team.
