Two accused of smuggling in car arrested from Odisha, 29 kg ganja recovered

Raigarh. Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, under the “Operation Traut” being run against narcotics by Raigarh Police, the joint team of Lailunga police station and Cyber ​​police station arrested two accused who were smuggling ganja from Orissa and seized about 29 kg of ganja, Maruti Suzuki Ritz car used in ganja transportation and two mobile phones from their possession.

On the lines of the film ‘Pushpa’, the accused had hidden the ganja by making special chambers in the doors and back lights of the car, so that police investigation could be avoided. In this action, a total of property worth Rs 17.65 lakh has been seized and a named crime has also been registered against the absconding supplier and the kingpin.

Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, Operation Trauma is being conducted with the aim of completely curbing drug abuse in the district. In the same sequence, the police had received information that a person from Pathalgaon area brings ganja from Orissa and supplies it to other states via Raigarh.

Taking the information seriously, SSP Shri Singh gave instructions to the joint team of Lailunga police station and Cyber ​​police station to arrest the accused. On March 01, 2026, information was received that two persons were coming towards Pakargaon Lailunga from Orissa in a chocolate colored Maruti Suzuki Ritz car number CG-13-UG-9683.

On information, the police team cordoned off the area near Pakargaon Atal Chowk. When a suspicious car was seen at around 6 pm, the police tried to stop the vehicle, but after seeing the police, the accused turned the vehicle towards the unpaved road and started running away. The police team showed promptness and cordoned off the vehicle and stopped it.

The accused traveling in the vehicle revealed their names as Shravan Kumar Nishad and Mahendra Prasad Chauhan. During initial interrogation, the accused denied smuggling of ganja, but on the basis of accurate information received by the police, a detailed investigation of the vehicle was conducted, in which ganja was recovered from the secret chamber made inside the doors and back light of the car.

About 19.033 kg ganja was recovered from the possession of accused Shravan Kumar Nishad and about 10.082 kg ganja was recovered from the possession of Mahendra Prasad Chauhan. Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki Ritz car used in transporting ganja and mobile phones of both the accused were also seized.

During interrogation, the accused told that Ramkumar Kujur, resident of Maheshpur police station, Pathalgaon district, Jashpur, had lured them by giving them Rs 10,000 per 10 kg of ganja to bring ganja from Orissa. Both of them went to Orissa and brought ganja and were going to hide it in the car and deliver it to Ramkumar Kujur.

In this case, crime number 69/2026 under section 20 (B), 29 NDPS Act has been registered against Shravan Kumar Nishad, Mahendra Prasad Chauhan and absconding accused Ramkumar Kujur in Lailunga police station. Both the accused have been arrested and sent on judicial remand, while the search for absconding Ramkumar Kujur is going on.

Under the guidance of SSP Shri Shashi Mohan Singh and the guidance of Additional SP Anil Soni and SDOP Dharamjaigarh Siddant Tiwari, police station in-charge Lailunga, sub-inspector Girdhari Sao, assistant sub-inspector Rajesh Darshan, constable Jitendra Kurre, Mannu Khadiya and head constable of cyber police station Brijlal Gujjar, constable Prashant Panda, Pushpendra Jatwar, Vikas Pradhan, Pratap Behera and Ravindra were involved in this entire operation. Gupta played an important role.
