‘Contest elections, but his defeat…’ Amidst Holi celebrations, Chirag Paswan taunts Tejashwi over Rajya Sabha elections.

Patna: Preparations for elections for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar are in full swing. Voting is to be held on March 16, but the ruling party and the opposition have not yet officially announced the names of their candidates. There is intense political activity and many names are being discussed in the corridors. Meanwhile, Union Minister Chirag Paswan has made a big claim.

discussion of candidates

Names like Ramnath Thakur of JDU and Pawan Singh of BJP are coming out from NDA. On the other hand, there is speculation about RJD leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav going to Rajya Sabha. There are total 243 MLAs in Bihar Assembly. In the current situation, NDA has about 202 MLAs, which includes BJP 89, JDU 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) 19 and other small parties. The Grand Alliance has only 35 MLAs.

To win a seat in Rajya Sabha elections, at least 41 votes are required. On the basis of numbers, four seats of NDA are considered almost certain, but mathematics is stuck on the fifth seat. NDA will have to collect three additional votes for this, while the Grand Alliance needs six more votes.

Chirag Paswan’s claim

On the occasion of Holi, LJP (Ram Vilas) national president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan held a meeting with party MLAs. He asserted that NDA will win all the five Rajya Sabha seats of Bihar. Chirag said, "Only NDA candidates will win, no matter which party they belong to. We will support with full force."

During this, he wished Holi and remembered the RJD family. Chirag said, "Happy Holi to Lalu ji, Rabri ji and all my sisters." But taking a dig at the speculations about Tejashwi Yadav contesting the Rajya Sabha elections, he said, "If Tejashwi ji wants, he can contest the elections, but his defeat is certain. Like the assembly elections, the result here too will be the same."

Interesting contest for the fifth seat

The contest on the fifth seat remains interesting. It is possible if the Grand Alliance collects votes of 5 MLAs of AIMIM, 1 of BSP and other independents or small parties, but due to the strong unity and numerical strength of NDA, Chirag Paswan’s claim seems strong.
