Pakistan after shameful performance in T20 World Cup. PCB’s action against the team Gujarati

Islamabad, 2 March 2026: After a very disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2026 and being thrown out of the race for the semi-finals, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has adopted a tough stance. According to Pakistani media reports, angry over the continuous failure of the team, the board has imposed a fine of 50 lakh Pakistani rupees (approximately 16 lakh Indian rupees) on each player of the team.

According to the report of ‘Express Tribune’, the board officials were extremely angry after the crushing defeat against India in the group stage and the defeat against England in the Super-8. Although the team won against Sri Lanka, it was not enough to reach the semi-finals. These drastic decisions have been taken in response to the indiscipline and poor performance against the Pakistani team which has been continuously flopping in ICC tournaments.

Veteran cricketers of Pakistan have also taken a dig at the team, former player Javed Miandad had said, “You get one chance in two years to leave a mark for the country and you have failed again. T20 is now a game of extreme planning and our players cannot reach the level of other teams.”

When Mohammad Yusuf said, questioning the selection policy, “Certain players were given more than enough opportunities to prove themselves, yet they flopped on the big stage.” When former keeper Moeen Khan said, “Unless you develop the ability to defeat top teams, the dream of winning the ICC trophy will remain unfulfilled.”

Former captain Babar Azam, current captain Salman Ali Aga, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan are currently facing heavy criticism. There are reports that Salman Ali Agha may leave the post of captain soon. On the other hand, former coach Saqlain Mushtaq is also in controversy. He is accused of criticizing head coach Mike Hesson by defending the weak form of his son-in-law Shadab Khan.

Pakistan may have ended the tournament with victory, but cricket fans across the country are disappointed. Now the question is arising that will the team’s problems be solved by merely giving penalties? Then there is a need for a major ‘surgical operation’ in the leadership and strategy of Pakistani cricket.
