A demand has been raised to implement only NCERT books in private schools in Mainpuri district. State Women’s Commission member Renu Gaur has sent a letter to the Minister of State for Secondary and Basic Education and appealed to issue necessary instructions in this regard.
Renu Gaur said in her letter that in private schools, instead of NCERT books, expensive books from self-appointed publishers are used, which puts unnecessary financial burden on the parents. He demanded that only NCERT books should be compulsorily implemented in all private schools, so that education can become accessible and affordable.
He also suggested that school uniforms should not be changed for at least five years. Parents have to bear additional expenses due to frequent change of dress. Along with this, he also demanded to bring stability in the house system of schools. He said that instead of changing houses every year, students should be kept in the same house for at least three years, so that the expenditure on dresses and other materials can be reduced.
Renu Gaur said that the aim of education is the all-round development of students and not to increase financial pressure on parents. He has demanded the government to issue clear and strict guidelines in this direction, so that parents can get relief.
Now it remains to be seen what decision the Education Department takes on this demand.
