Assistant Engineer of Education Department in Bihar arrested for taking bribe of Rs 5 lakh, caught by surveillance team

Desk: Taking major action against the corruption prevalent in the education department in Bettiah, Bihar, the surveillance team from Patna has arrested Assistant Engineer Roshan Kumar red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. It is being told that 10 percent commission was being demanded in lieu of bill payment for the repairing scheme worth Rs 57 lakh.

According to the information received, Shams Tabrez (plaintiff), resident of Rahimpur Nautan, had complained that 10 percent commission was being demanded by the Assistant Engineer for paying the bill for the repair work done by him worth Rs 57 lakh.

After verification of the complaint, the surveillance department laid a trap and caught the engineer while taking Rs 5 lakh. This action was taken under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Surveillance Sudhir Kumar. After the arrest, the team has completed the necessary legal process and started further investigation. This action has created a stir in the departmental circles. It is being told that the role of other people involved in the case will also be investigated.
