First Anniversary of ‘Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir’, New Dawn in Sundarbans by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewelers

A trusted name in the world of jewelery ‘Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers’ has always distinguished itself as not only the external beauty of people, but also as a craftsman for building society. On Sunday, 1st March 2026, Mahasamarohe celebrated the first anniversary of their special CSR initiative ‘Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir’. The day was more significant as it was the 81st birth anniversary of this noble woman.

A festive mood in the island air before the sun rises in the eastern sky. The sapling of education planted by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewelers a year ago in the riverside remote areas of the Sundarbans has started budding today. A message of a new horizon was given yesterday not by lighting lamps, but by flying pigeons across the sky and hoisting the tricolor flag. A huge voluntary blood donation camp was organized to commemorate this one year success. The spontaneous participation of the common people of the island proved how deeply this organization has taken a place in the hearts of the common people.

The celebration of the anniversary was made more colorful by the distribution of new clothes and gifts by the organization to the students and teachers. The silence of the Sundarbans seems to disappear in an instant with the rhythm of songs, poems and dances of Kachikachas. President of East Bengal Club as well as Chairman of Jupiter Wagons Limited Shri M. L. Lohia. “I feel really proud to be a part of this great initiative of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers. I look forward to being with the school they are running in the future,” he enthused.

Rupak Saha, son of Bela Saha and director of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, spoke about the passion and struggle behind the school. He said in an emotional voice, “My late mother Bela Saha was deeply inspired by the power of education. She stood first in every exam in life and after eighteen years of marriage got into college and graduated with honors. She always extended her helping hand to meritorious students in higher education.” At the same time, daughter Sucharita Roy’s words bring up the legacy of motherly love for talented students.

Gems and Jewelery Council Chairman Sunil Poddar, Dr. Sujit Roy and Dr. Eminent personalities like Dipankar Mandal. At the end of the day, there was a feast for everyone.
