  • 2 cups leftover dosa batter
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped carrot
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped capsicum
  • 1-2 green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
  • Salt as per taste (if needed)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 6-8 curry leaves
  • 1-2 tbsp oil

How to make appe with dosa batter

It is very easy to prepare appe from dosa batter. For this, first of all take out the remaining dosa batter in a big bowl. If the batter is too thick then add a little water to it and make it of medium consistency.

Now add onion, carrot, capsicum, green chilli, ginger and green coriander and mix well. Check the taste and add some salt if needed. If you want, you can also add a pinch of baking soda to it, which will make the appe more soft.

Heat some oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds in it and let it crackle. Then add curry leaves and fry lightly. Add this tadka to the prepared batter and mix well. This will further enhance the taste of appe.

Place the appe pan (paniyaram pan) on the gas and pour a little oil into each mould. When the pan becomes slightly hot, pour the batter into each mold. Keep the gas flame medium and cover the pan.

After about 3-4 minutes, turn the appe with the help of a spoon or stick. Cook from the other side until it becomes golden and crispy. When they are cooked well from both the sides, take them out in a plate. Serve hot appe with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
