The first flight from UAE reached Delhi amid Iran-Israel war, passengers became emotional on returning home
Iran Israel Conflict: The return of hundreds of Indian passengers stranded due to Iran’s missile and drone attacks in Abu Dhabi has started. Today, the first flight from Abu Dhabi reached Indira Gandhi International Airport carrying many passengers who were stuck there for the last few days. The country’s airspace was temporarily closed following the massive attacks on the UAE, affecting thousands of people, a large number of them Indians.
Chaos in UAE due to missile attack
During the attacks, many important targets including Abu Dhabi and Dubai were targeted. The ballistic missiles and drone attacks were mostly intercepted by the UAE’s air defense systems, but falling debris killed one person and injured several others in Abu Dhabi. Dubai International Airport and Zayed International Airport were also damaged, due to which all flights were cancelled.
Situation improves with special flights
With the situation gradually becoming normal, special and exceptional flights have been started. Etihad Airways has resumed its services from Abu Dhabi, and its first flight reached Delhi carrying stranded passengers. Some passengers said that the situation is much better now and there is no need to panic. According to a passenger, “The government there and the air defense system did an excellent job. Most of the missiles and drones were intercepted in the air. The airlines also took complete care of us—hotels, food and security were arranged.”
Tourists frightened by attacks
However, some tourists appeared scared by these incidents. An Indian passenger said, “We were watching the missiles and explosions from the hotel balcony. There were loud explosions and smoke rising in the sky. Felt quite scared, but now we are safe.” Many passengers praised the UAE administration and local agencies for quickly controlling the situation and ensuring the safety of people. Airlines also provided special assistance to stranded passengers.
