Mumbai: Born on March 3, Shankar Mahadevan’s childhood was spent in the colors of music. He was born in Chembur, Mumbai, while his family roots are from Palakkad, Kerala. He got exposure to Indian classical and Carnatic music since childhood. He started taking classical music lessons at an early age. Along with studies, music became the biggest passion of his life. When Shankar saw its script, he was amazed. The words written non-stop on four pages looked like an article. He told in an interview that he could not understand how to sing it. At first glance it seemed impossible, but he accepted the challenge. This song, recorded in the style of non-stop singing, was greatly liked by the audience.

‘Breathless’ proved to be a big hit as soon as it was released. This song brought recognition to Shankar Mahadevan overnight. He also received the Best Non Film Album award at the Screen Awards. This experiment gave him a different identity and made him a strong place in the world of music.
