Major capture of Durand Line by Taliban, two more posts of Pakistan lost

New Delhi: The tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan has once again reached a dangerous point. Taliban has claimed to have captured two military posts of Pakistan near the Durand Line, due to which the situation on the border has worsened. This development has further intensified the already ongoing military tension between the two countries.

According to reports, forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have established control over Pakistani military posts located near the so-called Durand Line in Spin Boldak and Shorabak districts of Kandahar province. This action is being seen as a major link in the increasing conflict across the border.

Drone attack on Rawalpindi’s Noor Khan airbase

Tension increased further when Afghan Taliban forces carried out armed drone attacks targeting the Noor Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi. This airbase plays an important role as the command and control center of Pakistan.

This attack is also considered sensitive because this base was the target of Indian forces during Operation Sindoor. Reconstruction work was going on here after the four-day intense clash between India and Pakistan in May 2025. The news of the latest attack has once again affected the repair work and additional damage is feared.

Attacks in Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also

The ministry said, "Today, the Air Force of the Ministry of National Defense carried out precise and coordinated air operations on vital military targets in Pakistan. In this, Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, 12th Division Headquarters in Quetta (Balochistan), Khawajai Camp in Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and many other important Pakistani military places and command centers were targeted."

Claim of downing Pakistani fighter jet in Jalalabad

Earlier, Taliban officials had claimed that a Pakistani fighter plane was shot down in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. According to news agency AFP, the pilot was captured alive after coming out of the plane via parachute. Local sources said that the pilot was taken into custody as soon as he landed on the ground.

This development has come amid increasing cross-border hostilities between the two countries, making the situation more explosive.

Pakistan’s counter airstrike

On Friday, Pakistan carried out air strikes on Afghanistan’s capital Kabul and southern city Kandahar. Kandahar is considered to be the hideout of Taliban’s supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.

A Pakistani government spokesman claimed that 133 Taliban fighters were killed, more than 200 were injured and several posts were destroyed or captured in these attacks.
