Bihar Politics: Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar may soon enter active politics. His formal political entry can be announced very soon. Amidst the ongoing discussions regarding the health of the Chief Minister, the demand to bring Nishant forward within the party is increasing. Due to this news, enthusiasm is being seen among the workers of Janata Dal (United) (JDU).
Entry may happen this month
In the NDTV report, quoting sources, it was claimed that Nishant Kumar may enter the political arena this month. In recent times, he has been seen in many public programs. He was also seen with Nitish Kumar on the occasion of his 75th birthday on March 1. He fed cake to his father and went to the temple and offered prayers for him.
Since the mandate received in the assembly elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, there is intense discussion in the party regarding the role of Nishant. According to JDU sources, there may be indications about his active role in the party’s national executive meeting to be held in Delhi in March.
Increased presence in public programs
After the last assembly election results, Nishant Kumar’s presence in public programs has increased. He was also seen sitting in the front row at the swearing-in ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan. When he was asked a question about joining politics, he avoided a direct answer and avoided the question by smiling.
Here, through poster-banners and social media campaigns in many districts including Patna, he is being described as the future and possible successor of the party. Slogans like “Nitish Sevak, Mange Nishant” have also been in discussion. Supporters claim that a large number of workers want to see him in active politics.
Getting support from leaders
JDU working president Sanjay Jha has also said that the workers want to see Nishant in the party, although the final decision will depend on him. Leader of ally Hindustani Awam Morcha and minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and other leaders have also supported Nishant’s entry into politics.

However, till now Nitish Kumar has not given any clear indication about his son’s political future. He has been against familyism for a long time and has been especially targeting the Rashtriya Janata Dal on this issue. But in the current situation, questions are being raised within the party as to who will take charge of JDU in future.
