Virat Kohli’s record broken, still out of auction! Sahibzada Farhan did not get place in ‘The Hundred’

This T20 World Cup has been no less than a nightmare for Pakistan. The team kept searching for its rhythm throughout the tournament and could not progress beyond the Super-8. However, amid this disappointment, opener Sahibzada Farhan attracted everyone’s attention with his record-breaking performance. He made the record of scoring most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition, which was earlier in the name of Virat Kohli. But the surprising thing was that despite such an excellent performance, he did not get a place in the auction of a big franchise league.

Farhan out of ‘The Hundred’ auction

A list of 247 players has been released for the auction of England’s famous league The Hundred 2026. It includes the names of 16 Pakistani players, but the name of Sahibzada Farhan is missing. About one thousand players had registered for the auction. After this, each team prepared a shortlist of 75 to 100 players on whom they can show interest in bidding. There are many names of Pakistani players included in the list including Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Aamir, Imad Wasim, but Farhan’s absence has surprised everyone.

IPL ownership controversy and clarification

Recently, controversy regarding ‘The Hundred’ also came to light. There was discussion that the ownership teams associated with the Indian Premier League will not buy Pakistani players. On this, it was made clear by the England Cricket Board that the players will be selected on the basis of their performance, availability and the needs of the team and not for any other reason.

Farhan’s reaction

When Sahibzada Farhan was questioned on this issue in the press conference during the T20 World Cup, he had said, “Every player wants to play in the best league in the world. The Hundred is also one of them. Hope to get better opportunities in future.” Being left out of the auction list despite record-breaking performance is certainly surprising. Now it remains to be seen whether Farhan gets a chance in international franchise cricket in the future or not.
