Jammu and Kashmir became Ranji Trophy champion, why did Karnataka lose even after the final was drawn?
Jammu and Kashmir team has become Ranji champion. In the final match played in Hubli, Jammu and Kashmir defeated 8-time champion Karnataka and captured the Ranji Trophy title for the first time. On the fifth day of the final match, as Sahil Lotra completed his century, Jammu and Kashmir declared its second innings at the score of 342/5. After this the Karnataka team decided to end the match here.
Jammu and Kashmir had a huge lead of 634 runs and there was not much time left in the match. In such a situation, it was impossible for Karnataka to achieve this target, due to which both the teams agreed on a draw. Jammu and Kashmir had ensured their victory by taking a lead of 291 runs in the first innings. Actually, if the match is drawn in the knockout of Ranji Trophy, the team gaining lead in the first innings is declared the winner.

Shubham Pundir and Aaqib Nabi became the heroes of victory
Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and batted first and scored 584 runs in the first innings. Shubham Pundir played an inning of 121 runs. He led Jammu and Kashmir to a big score after recovering from the initial setbacks. Apart from them, Yawar Hasan scored 88 runs, captain Paras Dogra scored 70 runs and Abdul Samad scored 61 runs. After this, Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Sahil Lotra also played half-century innings. In response to Jammu and Kashmir’s first innings score, Karnataka’s team was reduced to just 293.
Aaqib Nabi, who wreaked havoc throughout the Ranji season, also bowled brilliantly in the final and bowled out Karnataka cheaply. Aaqib Nabi took 5 wickets for 54 runs. Only Mayank Agarwal could perform for Karnataka. He played an inning of 160 runs.

Kamran Iqbal’s century in the second innings
After gaining a huge lead on the basis of first innings, Jammu and Kashmir did not give any chance to Karnataka to make a comeback and batted more than 100 overs in the second innings also. Opener Kamran Iqbal, taking charge from one end, scored unbeaten 160 runs. He faced 311 balls and hit 16 fours and 3 sixes. Sahil Lotra supported him well and scored unbeaten 101 runs in 226 balls.
