Amidst the tension, Indian citizens returning from Muscat heave a sigh of relief, flights resume from Dubai and Abu Dhabi

New Delhi, March 3. Indian citizens returned to their country from Muscat (Oman) amid tension in the Middle East. Citizens who returned to India heaved a sigh of relief on reaching home safely on Tuesday and appreciated the efforts of the authorities in handling the tense situation in the region. After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei in the Israel-America attack, Iran started missile attacks on the countries where America has established its bases. In this sequence, Iran attacked many countries including Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, after which the lives of common citizens came to a standstill.

Many passengers who reached Delhi from Muscat spoke to IANS. Anisha Aggarwal said, “The missiles were being stopped and out of fear we decided to return. The government handled the situation very well. Since our children were with us, we were very worried. We were scared after seeing the current situation. The noises made by the missiles being stopped were very loud, which was causing trouble to the children.” Another passenger from Muscat said, “We came back because we did not feel completely safe there. The anti-missile system was working very effectively. I personally was not too scared, but we had children with us, so we thought it would be better to return to India. All is well now.”

Sharing his experience, traveler Adil said, “We faced a lot of uncertainty there. We were afraid of missing our flight as many flights were cancelled. We contacted the Indian Embassy for assistance. I feel very relieved and happy after returning to India. Initially the flights were suspended, but now the services have been restored. My return journey was smooth and I did not face any major problems during the journey.” The return of passengers comes days after Iranian drones and missiles targeted parts of the region, causing airport operations to be temporarily suspended. Thousands of Indians stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) faced inconvenience due to cancellation of flights and closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East.

Many flights resumed operations from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. After several days of suspension, flights landed in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru on Monday night. Dubai airports have confirmed partial resumption of operations and advised passengers not to go to the airport until they have been informed by their airline of their departure confirmation. The resumption of flight services has brought great relief to the stranded passengers and their families who are waiting for their safe return.
