Indian Air Force Exercise Creates Stir In Pakistan India Issues Notam

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by India has increased vigilance in Pakistan amid ongoing tension in West Asia and the situation related to Iran. India has announced to temporarily restrict airspace for Indian Air Force (IAF) military exercises near the southern part of the Pakistan border from March 5 to March 12.

This NOTAM is issued through official aviation channels, marking designated airspace for military use. Such restrictions are part of standard procedure to prevent civilian aircraft from entering the operational area before large-scale military exercises.

However, according to security officials, the move is being closely monitored in Islamabad. Pakistan already faces multi-layered security challenges and is managing its resources on various fronts.

According to sources, Pakistan is simultaneously monitoring its western borders with Afghanistan and Iran, while maritime security has also been increased in the Arabian Sea. Following India’s latest move, Pakistan has reportedly redeployed additional air and ground resources to monitor the exercises once they begin.

Giving details of the regional deployment, a senior official said that Pakistan’s forces are already working under pressure and their capabilities have reached close to the limit due to parallel security responsibilities.

The southern corridor of the India-Pakistan border, particularly the areas adjacent to Rajasthan and Sindh, has been used from time to time by both countries for military exercises, especially when diplomatic or strategic tensions have escalated.

The exercise is taking place at a time when commercial flight routes have been affected due to conflict in West Asia and many countries are on high alert.

Experts believe that since Operation Sindoor, issuing NOTAM in border areas has become a more visible means of giving strategic signals between India and Pakistan. Both countries regularly reserve airspace for exercises, which are seen as military preparations and a show of force.

At present, Indian officials have described the exercise as part of regular military training. However, given the current regional circumstances, this move is also being understood from a broader strategic perspective.
