149 Indians stranded in Dubai returned home, Air India’s first flight reached Delhi, passengers said – I felt relieved after coming home!
New Delhi: There is relief news for Indians stranded in Dubai due to the ongoing tension between America, Israel and Iran in the Middle East. On Tuesday, the first flight of Air India reached New Delhi from Dubai, carrying 149 passengers. This flight AI916D landed at Delhi Airport at around 11 am. The registration of the aircraft was VT-EDC.
First relief flight amid tension
The attacks and retaliation by Iran led to the temporary closure of airspace throughout the region. Due to this, many flights to and from India from Gulf countries including Dubai and Abu Dhabi were cancelled. Thousands of Indians were trapped. After the airspace gradually opened, limited flights started under strict safety rules.
This flight of Air India was the first flight from an Indian airline company to Delhi. Earlier in the morning, 143 crew members of Air India and Air India Express, who were stuck in Dubai, were also safely brought to Delhi.

Passengers of a flight that reached Bengaluru from Abu Dhabi also shared their experiences. He said that Etihad Airways arranged hotels and other assistance for the stranded passengers. Good care was taken at the airport. In the Middle East, companies like Air India, Indigo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet had temporarily stopped flights. Some flights to Europe were also affected.
Air India statement
Air India said that in the current situation its team is working diligently. Safety of passengers is paramount. He thanked the Government of India, DGCA and Dubai authorities. The company said that the situation is being monitored and more flights will be started soon.
DGCA had advised to avoid airspace over West Asian countries. Control rooms were also activated for complaints. Now the situation is gradually becoming normal, but security is under constant surveillance.
