HDFC Bank Changes Rules: Big private bank HDFC Bank has made a big change in one of its rules. This change is related to withdrawing cash from ATM using UPI. In fact, UPI cash withdrawals made from ATM will now be included in the free transaction limit of the month.

This means that even if a customer withdraws cash from an ATM using UPI, it will still be considered a regular ATM transaction. This new rule will come into effect from April 1, 2026. Let’s know the details.

After April 1, 2026, if customers exceed their free transaction limit, they will be charged Rs 23 plus applicable taxes for every additional transaction. This rule will apply equally to both UPI cash withdrawal and regular ATM cash withdrawal.

HDFC Bank gives five free ATM transactions every month to its savings and salary account holders. There are three free transactions in ATMs of other banks in metro cities. There are five free transactions in other bank’s ATMs in non-metro cities. There is a separate fee for using ATM abroad.

Charges for HDFC Bank Debit Card Payment

There is no extra charge for HDFC Bank Debit Card payment at domestic stores and websites. However, at some places like IRCTC and railway stations, separate transaction charges may apply. Railway station charge is Rs 30 per ticket plus 1.8% of the transaction amount. IRCTC charge is 1.8%. Fuel surcharge is not applicable on payments made through bank swipe machines at government petrol pumps.
