Two arrested including mastermind in attack on lawyer associated with Lawrence Bishnoi
New Delhi. Delhi Police has arrested a key conspirator and a shooter in connection with the shooting of lawyer Deepak Khatri, linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, near ISBT in North Delhi last week. An official gave this information on Tuesday. One of the two accused is Rohit Solanki, 26, a resident of Pooth Kalan and an alleged member of the Rohit Godara gang. He was arrested by the North District police after analyzing footage from over 300 CCTV cameras installed at 20 locations and conducting a massive search operation.
In a parallel operation, the crime branch arrested Sagar Malik, 22, also a resident of Pooth Kalan, who had allegedly provided the attackers with the scooter used in the crime and other items, including fake SIM cards, the officer said. A foreign made Glock pistol and three cartridges were recovered from him. Khatri, 45, a resident of Paschim Vihar, was fired upon on February 24 when he and his companions were returning from the Hanuman temple at Marghat near Kashmiri Gate. At around 10.05 pm, when his car reached near a rain shelter on the Ring Road, the assailants on a two-wheeler opened fire, injuring Khatri’s aide Sandeep with two bullets. A case was registered at Kashmiri Gate police station under sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 3(5) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Arms Act. According to the police, Lawrence became the target of Khatri gangster Rohit Godara and his associate Goldie Brar amid growing rivalry with the Bishnoi gang following the murder of Sukhdeep alias Sippa in Dubai in November 2025 and Godara gang member Inderpreet alias Parry in Chandigarh in December 2025. Investigators said Khatri’s murder was planned by Godara and Solanki, who had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the lawyer’s activities.
Information about Khatri’s activities came to light through his social media profile and Solanki came to know that Khatri visits Marghat wala Hanuman temple every Tuesday. Police said that on the day of the incident, Solanki, along with two shooters allegedly appointed by Godara, identified the target, carried out the attack and fled. During interrogation, Solanki reportedly revealed that the attackers had left behind a scooter and a Glock pistol near Rajghat while fleeing. The pistol was later recovered in a separate incident in Patparganj industrial area. A truck driver picked up this pistol and was injured by the erroneous firing. The scooter was later confiscated. Police said Sagar Malik’s scooter, which was used in the crime, was registered in his mother’s name. Malik allegedly arranged for a SIM card using a fake identity card and handed it over to Solanki. After the attack, Solanki fled to Jaipur and boarded a flight to Bangkok. According to reports, he was planning to flee to Dubai. He was deported from Thailand and later arrested in a village on the outskirts of Delhi. Police said Malik has been arrested from Rohini and is involved in a 2024 attempt to murder case. Police said efforts are on to trace the remaining attackers.
