This is Bollywood’s first Holi song

The first Holi song in Bollywood films was made in 1940, before independence. This was a black-and-white film, which had not one but two Holi songs. One is ‘Aaj Holi Khelenge Saajan Ke Sang’ (Aaj Holi Khelenge Saajan Ke Sang) and the other is ‘Shyam will play Holi on the banks of Jamuna’ (Jamuna Tatt Par Holi Khelenge Shyam). Both these songs were composed and sung by famous music director and playback singer Anil Biswas.

Mother India was the remake of this film

The name of the film in which Holi had its first songs was Aurat. Which was directed by Mehboob Khan. Artists like Sardar Akhtar, Surendra, Yakub, Kanhaiyalal and Arun Kumar Ahuja worked in this film. At the same time, very few people know that Mehboob had remade Aurat with the name Mother India in 1957 and this film also became a superhit and broke many records.
