Indians trapped in difficult conditions of Middle East will return home, IndiGo starts special rescue operation

IndiGo Resumes flights to the Middle East: In view of the changing situation in the Middle East and Persian Gulf, Indigo Airlines has started its services to evacuate the people stranded there. The airline has restarted some of its flights in India in coordination with the relevant authorities and respective governments.

According to the IndiGo statement, four flights are currently headed towards Jeddah and one flight is likely to operate to and from Muscat later in the day. More scheduled flights and seat capacity will be made available from Wednesday. IndiGo will restart select flights by carefully planning its schedule, with safety being the top priority.

There will be a total of 13 return flights (26 sectors). “Return flights to UAE stations for March 4 are being worked on,” the airline said. However, this will depend on the local situation and necessary approvals. This will be confirmed later in view of the changing situation.”

What did Indigo airline say?

“For all remaining stations, IndiGo is closely monitoring the situation and working with the relevant authorities for local slots and permits to gradually resume its operational schedule,” the airline said. Indigo keeps updating its social media platforms and website with the latest status. Amidst this highly volatile situation, the safety of its customers, crew and aircraft is of paramount importance to IndiGo.”

Meanwhile, UAE-based airlines Emirates and Etihad Airways began operating a limited number of flights from the evening of March 2, after Dubai Airports confirmed partial operations following the airport closure due to the conflict between the US-Israeli coalition and Iran.

Emirates said previously booked customers will be given priority when resuming services in a phased manner. The airline will directly contact passengers who have been rebooked on these limited flights, adding, “Please, do not go to the airport until you are told.”

Only a few limited flights were allowed

Dubai’s airline said that all other flights will remain suspended until further notice. It further said that it is keeping an eye on the situation and will adjust its operational schedule accordingly. Dubai Airports said a limited number of flights will be allowed from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International (DWC). However, the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority said, “Extraordinary flights are now operating at UAE airports. To ensure safe passage, do not go to the airport until your airline contacts you with confirmed flight details.”
