Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan-England series completely cancelled, PCB confirmed, know the reason

Pakistan Vs England: The ongoing limited overs series between Pakistan Shaheens and England Lions in Abu Dhabi has been suddenly cancelled. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed this.

The decision was taken due to increased military tensions and security risks in the Gulf region after the US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Both the boards decided to end the series keeping the safety of the players at the forefront.

Pakistan’s bad condition in the series

This series was being played in Abu Dhabi, which included three T20 and five ODI matches. Till now three T20s and two ODIs had been completed. England Lions had a strong performance by winning all five matches. The remaining three ODI matches were left to be held, but they were also canceled due to deteriorating security situation.

A PCB spokesperson said that this step was taken after consultation with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Players and staff of both the teams will return on the first available flight from Abu Dhabi.

Airspace closed due to attack on Iran

On Saturday, America and Israel launched massive attacks on Iran. In response, Iran fired missiles, which caused explosions in the Gulf region and caused damage at many places. Cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi were affected. Many countries closed their airspace or banned flights.

Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, was also affected and flights were suspended. Because of this the travel of cricket teams became difficult.

Impact on other teams too

Not only Pakistan Shaheens and England Lions were affected by this tension. Pakistan women’s team is stuck in Johannesburg after finishing the series against South Africa. She was about to return home via Dubai, but due to closure of air services she was not able to get a flight.

The West Indies team, which was out of the T20 World Cup, is stuck in India. Cricket West Indies said that they are working with ICC and concerned authorities to ensure the safe return of the players. Zimbabwe team is also stuck in Delhi.

safety first

Both PCB and ECB have given priority to the safety of the players, coaching staff and support team. The ECB also canceled the England Women’s team’s proposed training camp in Abu Dhabi. PCB said that the teams will be brought back safely as soon as the airfield opens.
