Apple IPhone 17e Launch: Tech giant Apple has launched the cheapest phone of its updated 17 series, iPhone 17e, in the global market including India. It has many updates compared to the iPhone 16e, including the latest A19 chipset, 48MP fusion camera, better durability, MagSafe support and double the storage (256GB) in the base variant. Apart from this, the company also introduced the new iPad Air with the updated M4 processor, which is 30% faster than the previous generation.
The starting price of iPhone 17e and iPad Air is Rs 64,900. The starting price of the iPhone 17e is higher than the previous model, perhaps due to the lack of memory chip. Last year, iPhone 16e was launched for Rs 59,900. However, the base model of the 16e had 128GB of storage, while the base model of the 17e had 256GB of memory. Both devices will be available for booking from 7:45 pm on March 4, while the sale will start from March 11.
Design: Ceramic Shield 2 Safety with ‘matte’ finish
Ceramic Shield 2 has been used on the front of iPhone 17e, which provides three times more protection from scratches. The back panel has a matte texture, which prevents it from slipping. It has the same ‘notch’ design as the previous model. The phone has a dedicated action button for shortcuts. It has a USB Type-C port for charging. It will be available in three colours. Soft pink, white and black.

Display: It has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Its peak brightness is 1200 nits, which makes the screen clearly visible even in strong sunlight.
Performance: It has a new A19 chipset made on 3nm process. The company claims that its CPU is 2x faster than the old iPhone 11. For gaming, it also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Camera: The phone has a 48MP fusion camera at the back. It provides 2x optical-quality zoom through in-sensor cropping without changing the lens. For selfies, it has a powerful front camera with Face ID sensor.
Battery and Charging: It supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging (15W). It charges up to 50% in just 30 minutes via USB-C.
Software: It runs on the latest iOS 26, which has “Apple Intelligence” features like call screening and live translation.

Performance: It has an M4 processor with 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU. It supports ray tracing for 3D rendering and gaming. Apple claims that its 3D rendering speed is four times faster than the M1 model.
Memory: This time, the base model itself has 12GB of unified memory, which is 50% more than the previous model. Its memory bandwidth is 120GB/s.
Software: It runs on iPadOS 26, which has a liquid glass interface and an improved window management system. Files app and folder customization has been made like desktop.
AI Features: Its 16-core neural engine is three times faster than previous models, making AI tasks like removing backgrounds from videos and recognizing images much easier.
