Congress releases list of 42 candidates, Gaurav Gogoi to contest from Jorhat; who got ticket from where?

Assam Elections 2026: Congress has released the list of 42 candidates for the assembly elections to be held in Assam this year. Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi Has been given ticket from Jorhat. This announcement was made by All India Congress Committee.

Mirabor Thakur Goswami has been fielded from Dispur. Whereas Mahananda Sarkar has been given ticket from Barpeta. From Debabrata Saikia and Barachalla from Nazira Ripun Bora Has been made the candidate.

How many assembly seats are there in Assam?

There are a total of 126 seats in the Assam Assembly. The BJP-led alliance had won the majority in the 2021 elections. This time Congress is entering the election field with organizational restructuring and regional equations. The 2026 elections are considered important for the politics of the state, where ethnic, regional and development issues will remain prominent. Congress has released its first list indicating that the party wants to speed up the campaign by fielding candidates soon.
