Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi’s big decision on flight cancellation, free accommodation facility for stranded passengers

Abu Dhabi: Thousands of passengers were left stranded due to sudden cancellations and delays of flights in the region. In view of this situation, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi took a big step. The department issued a directive on February 28 asking hotels to provide accommodation without extra charges to guests whose flights have been canceled and who are stranded through no fault of their own.

Instructions given to hotels

The department asked hotel managers to extend the stay of such guests and send the extra room expenses directly to the department. This should not put any financial burden on the passengers.

It is reported that after large-scale cancellation of flights, about 20,000 passengers were temporarily kept in hotels or other places of stay. This arrangement was made under the supervision of UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. Food and other necessary facilities were also arranged for the passengers.
