New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings have defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets in the IPL match. After facing five consecutive defeats, Chennai has got its first win in IPL 2025. In this match played at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants batted first and scored 166 runs, in response to which CSK team ensured its victory by 5 wickets in this match which lasted till the last over. MS Dhoni made a big contribution to CSK’s victory by playing a stormy inning of 26 runs in 11 balls.
While chasing the target of 167 runs, Chennai Super Kings got a good start. Debutant Sheikh Rashid along with Rachin Ravindra took CSK’s score to more than 50 before the end of five overs. Rashid was out in his debut match after scoring 27 runs in 19 balls. Rachin Ravindra also could not convert his good start into big innings and lost his wicket after scoring 37 runs on the bowling of part-time bowler Aidan Markram.
Rahul Tripathi’s bad form continued as he was out after scoring only 9 runs. Shortly after that, Ravindra Jadeja was also out after scoring 7 runs. At one time Chennai had scored 52 runs without losing any wicket, but in the next 44 runs, CSK team lost 4 important wickets. Vijay Shankar also failed continuously, after his dismissal, Chennai lost 5 wickets at the score of 111 runs. At this time Chennai needed 56 runs in 30 balls to win.
In the last 5 overs, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dubey batted in a controlled manner and put pressure on the LSG bowlers. There was an unbroken partnership of 57 runs between Dhoni and Dubey, due to which Chennai Super Kings won after five consecutive defeats. This is CSK’s only second win in 7 matches in IPL 2025. Dhoni scored 26 runs in 11 balls, while Shivam Dubey played an unbeaten inning of 43 runs in 37 balls.
