Ayesha Khan’s big revelation: ‘There was an attempt to rape me’

New Delhi. Actress Ayesha Khan, who came into limelight with ‘Bigg Boss 17’ and is seen in the film ‘Dhurandhar’, recently spoke openly on the violence and online harassment that women face in public life. At a summit of Mojo Story, she shared the trolling, daily rape threats and a very painful experience of her life.

Trolling increased after the song ‘Shararat’

Ayesha told that when she said in an interview that she had shot the song ‘Shararat’ from the film ‘Dhurandhar’ during her periods, she had to face heavy trolling on social media. According to him, this is just an example—the real problem is much bigger than this.

She said that obscene comments about her clothes and body on social media are almost a daily occurrence.

“There is a problem if I wear a normal top, there is a problem if I wear a skirt too. Before posting, I have to think about what people will say.”

‘Receive rape threats every day’

When asked if she receives rape threats online, she said without hesitation—

“Yes, every day. I can open the phone and show you right now.”

According to Ayesha, this problem is not only hers but almost every woman in the industry goes through it in some form or the other. He said that people openly write violent things in the comments, which creates fear because these are “people from the real world”.

‘There was an attempt to rape me’

Ayesha became emotional during the summit and revealed that there was once a rape attempt on her.

“I don’t want to talk too much about it, but sometimes that wound heals again.”

She said that online threats rekindle that old pain, especially when she is shooting or travelling.

  • Had a scary experience on the set too

Ayesha mentioned another incident when she was shooting for the film and her father was also present on the sets. At the same time, he was continuously receiving voice notes on Instagram. Upon investigation, it was found that the person sending the message was a spotboy working on the set.

He immediately informed his father and the production team, after which action was taken against the person concerned. This incident made him realize that the distance between online and offline harassment is very short.

    impact on mental health

Ayesha says that living in an environment of constant surveillance and judgment is mentally very tiring.

“If before every post there is a fear that someone might misinterpret it, then it is a very sad situation.”

His revelation has once again intensified the debate on women’s safety, digital harassment and the need for strict laws in the entertainment industry and social media platforms.
