Harry Brook Backs Jos Buttler to Deliver Despite Lean Patch
The England captain, Harry Brook, has backed Jos Buttler to rebound from his setbacks when they take on India in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
He expressed confidence in Buttler, saying that he will rediscover his form during the clash against India on March 05.
Jos Buttler had a disappointing performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup campaign, scoring just 62 runs in seven matches at an average of 8.85 and a strike rate of 106.89. He has also registered single-digit scores in each of his last five innings.
Despite getting backlash, Buttler was backed by Harry Brook emphasiszing him as one of England’s finest white-ball batters and deserves the backing and time to bounce back on the big stage.
“I think Jos should be left alone. He is one of the best players to have ever played the game, and I can see him coming good,” said Harry Brook.
Harry Brook acknowledged that England are unlikely to enjoy much crowd support in their clash against India. He admitted that Indian fans will be backing the home side, and it will be a big assignment for their side.
He emphasised that England remain focused on delivering their best performance, adding that the team is prepared to handle the pressure and put its best foot forward despite the challenging environment.
“We are all really excited. I have already heard a few lads say they wanted to play India anyway. It is going to be a massive occasion with a hell of a lot of pressure for both sides,” Harry Brook said.
“India obviously has a hell of a lot of support, and I’m not sure there are going to be many people behind us. It’s going to be loud. Hopefully, we can play our best cricket,” Brook added.
England has won 6 games out of seven in the ongoing T20 World Cup campaign and topped the Super 8s points table with victories against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand.
England have beaten India in two out of five meetings and the T20 World Cup since 2007, and an intense clash is awaiting at Wankhede Stadium.
