U.S. B-2 Stealth Bombers expected at British bases Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford amid escalating Iran tensions: Report
Amid heightened military activities in the Middle East following recent U.S. and allied strikes on Iran, reports indicate that U.S. B-2 Spirit stealth bombers are anticipated to arrive at key British military facilities in the coming days. As per The Telegraph, preparations are reportedly underway at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, to support potential operations related to ongoing tensions with Iran.
The B-2 Spiritone of the U.S. Air Force’s most advanced stealth bombers, is capable of long-range precision strikes, including the delivery of heavy bunker-busting munitions. These aircraft have previously been deployed from U.S. bases for missions against Iranian targets, such as ballistic missile sites during Operation Epic Fury and earlier strikes on nuclear facilities.
The anticipated B-2 movements come amid Operation Epic Furywhere U.S. B-2 bombers have already conducted strikes on Iranian ballistic missile facilities using 2,000-pound guided bombs. These operations follow earlier actions targeting nuclear sites and reflect broader U.S. efforts to counter Iranian threats, including missile programs and regional proxy activities.
While no official confirmation of imminent B-2 arrivals has been issued by the Pentagon or UK Ministry of Defence, preparations at the bases signal readiness for expanded operations if required. Analysts note that forward deployments of stealth bombers would serve as a strong deterrent and enable more flexible, sustained air campaigns.
