Ever since Dodge moved away from its traditional V8 muscle formula, fans have been loud about one thing: bring the Hemi back. Now, that demand might finally be getting a response.
According to sources cited by MoparInsiders, development of a new V8-powered Charger Hellcat has quietly begun. While the project is still reportedly in early development, insiders suggest the car could debut as a 2028 model-year vehiclepotentially reaching dealerships sometime in late 2027.
If that timeline holds, Dodge would be bringing back one of the most iconic performance badges in modern muscle car history.
Why the V8 Matters to Charger Loyalists
The latest generation Charger introduced new powertrain options, including the twin-turbo Hurricane inline-sixwhich produces around 550 horsepower in its high-output form. On paper, it’s impressive.
But numbers aren’t the issue.
