Speculation of big political upheaval in Bihar: Nitish will go to Rajya Sabha, son Nishant will become Deputy CM?
Patna, 4 March. On one hand, the mood of the common people is immersed in Holiyana colors, while on the other hand, speculations about a major political upheaval in Bihar have increased. In this sequence, ruling Janata Dal United (JDU) sources say that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar can be sent to Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, the big question is that after Nitish Kumar goes to Rajya Sabha, who will take charge of the post of Chief Minister of Bihar?
According to JDU sources, Nitish Kumar has made preparations for nomination for Rajya Sabha seat. The party has prepared all the papers for Nitish’s nomination and he will file nomination on Thursday. There is also news that Nitish Kumar may resign from the post of Chief Minister after March 16. He will remain the Chief Minister of Bihar till the Rajya Sabha elections on March 16.
It is noteworthy that in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, BJP had established its dominance with 89 seats, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JDU was at second place by winning 85 seats. Chirag Paswan’s party (LJP-RV), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM also contributed to the NDA alliance.
The picture that has now emerged makes it clear that BJP’s dominance in power in Bihar is paramount. This is the reason why after Nitish Kumar, the command of the state can go to BJP. If this happens, it will be a big turning point in the history of Bihar, because after a long time, one of BJP’s own leaders will sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.
Nishant Kumar will become Deputy CM!
Meanwhile, senior JDU leader and Bihar minister Shravan Kumar said that Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics has been confirmed and the party will make a formal announcement soon. He said, ‘On the occasion of Holi, I want to tell that politics is intensifying regarding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar.’
If sources are to be believed, Nishant Kumar is also going to get an important responsibility. He can be made the Deputy CM of Bihar. Although there has been no official confirmation from JDU or NDA alliance, the discussion regarding Nishant’s name has intensified.
Giving strength to these speculations, JDU National Working President Sanjay Jha reached Patna from Delhi on Wednesday and held a long closed-door meeting with Nitish Kumar. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, is also reported to have reached Patna from Delhi.
a person, cannot be a member of two houses
Actually, the Constitution of India says that no person can be a member of two houses simultaneously. Nitish Kumar is currently a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and is the Chief Minister of the state. If he goes to Rajya Sabha, he will have to end his membership of Bihar Assembly and resign from the post of Chief Minister.
Resignation of the Chief Minister means resignation of the entire Council of Ministers.
If the Chief Minister resigns from his post, then technically the resignation of the entire Council of Ministers is considered. That is why after the post becomes vacant, the ruling alliance (NDA) has to choose its new leader again. This leader can be from either BJP or JDU.
