Shivneri bus will be expanded!! Solapur- Nagpur will be run in ‘these’ major cities of Maharashtra
Shivneri Bus Service: Shivneri Bus Service, known as the “Queen” of Mumbai-Pune highway, is now going to be expanded across the state. State Transport Minister and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Chairman Pratap Sarnaik has announced this. Pratap Sarnaik informed that this Shivneri bus, which provides a comfortable travel experience to the passengers, will run not only between Mumbai-Pune but also to other cities in Maharashtra.
Shivneri Bus Service started in 2002 is famous for premium travel. Trusted by passengers for providing comfortable, safe and timely services. Although Shivneri bus has to pay more fare compared to other common buses, Shivneri bus is used more by middle class passengers. Pratap Saranaik explained that the Shivneri bus service has been profitable since its inception due to the consistently good response from passengers.
MSRTC has started the tender process for procurement of 200 new technologically advanced Volvo buses for statewide expansion. Out of 200 new buses, 30 buses will have sleeper coaches. These ‘Sleeper Shivneri’ buses will replace the existing non-air-conditioned sleeper buses on long-distance routes. The features of these new buses are that the journey is safer and more comfortable thanks to modern technology. It will be equipped with high quality equipment for the safety of passengers. The comfortable bed-coach will give the passengers a great experience for overnight travel. Pratap Sarnaik said that this expansion of Shivneri service is not only to increase public transport, but to give a new, developed and dynamic direction to the travel culture of Maharashtra. These buses will soon be seen plying in important cities of Maharashtra. These include Nashik-Pune, Nashik-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik-Jalgaon-Dhule, Pune-Kolhapur, Pune-Sangli, Pune-Solapur, Nagpur-Chandrapur, Nagpur-Amravati-Akola.
Female passengers aged 65 to 75 and senior citizens get 50 percent discount on fare. Senior citizens above 75 years can travel for free in Shivneri services. Saranaik expressed the belief that the new routes will also get a good response from the public due to these concessions. Meanwhile, currently eco-friendly e-Shivneri buses are running on Dadar-Swargate, Dadar-Shivajinagar, Borivali-Swargate, Borivali-Shivajinagar, Thane-Swargate and Thane-Shivajinagar routes and this electric Shivneri bus is also getting great response from passengers.
