In view of Holi, Delhi Police deployed 15,000 personnel, strict action will be taken if rules are violated
On the occasion of Holi 2026, the enthusiasm for colors is at its peak in the capital, but Delhi Police is fully alert to keep the festival safe and orderly. More than 15,000 policemen have been deployed across the city to maintain law and order. Officials say that their priority is to prevent any kind of disorder or accident during the festival.
Special investigation teams at 134 major intersections
To prevent incidents of drunk driving, special investigation teams have been deployed at 134 major intersections. Here investigation will be done through breath analyzer and if found guilty, strict action will be taken. In case of serious violation, the driver’s license can be confiscated and suspended for at least three months.
Delhi Traffic Police has clarified that a comprehensive plan has been prepared to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festival and to ensure the safety of the common people. Additional forces will be deployed at sensitive areas and busy intersections. Police will especially keep vigil on activities like speeding, careless driving, crossing red light, driving in wrong direction, riding three riders on one bike, driving without helmet and stunting.
Under the guidelines related to road safety, the license can be confiscated and temporarily suspended in cases like drunken driving, driving using mobile phone, dangerous driving and overspeeding. Officials said that these rules will be strictly followed so that the chances of accidents during the festival are reduced.
Strict action will be taken in case of negligence
If any vehicle is found to be driven by a minor or a person without valid permission, legal action will be taken against the concerned vehicle owner. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) informed that all senior officers are personally monitoring the situation and will intervene immediately if needed.
Police have also made it clear that cognizance will be taken of traffic violations based on videos or pictures shared on social media. Officials say that their main objective is to provide a safe environment to the people, so that they can celebrate the festival of Holi with happiness and peace.
