Indian badminton star PV Sindhu, who was stuck in Dubai amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, has now returned home to Bengaluru. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, expressed her relief and gratitude at the X and also mentioned the anxiety she had experienced in the last few days.
Sindhu wrote, “Back home and safe in Bengaluru. The last few days have been very stressful and uncertain, but I am truly grateful to be back home. I would like to sincerely thank the amazing teams who took such good care of us, the Dubai authorities, the airport staff, immigration and everyone who came forward to help us during these difficult times. Their support and professionalism means more than words. Now, it’s time to rest, to recuperate.” And to consider next steps.”
The Indian Embassy in Dubai was closely monitoring the situation and providing assistance to the badminton star. PV Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, speaking to ANI on Sunday, said, “I spoke to my daughter around 3 am. She told me that the Indian Embassy is taking care of her and she has been accommodated in a hotel.”
Sindhu had earlier expressed her concern and fear on X when she was stuck in Dubai amid the Israel-Iran conflict. He said he heard sounds of interceptors overhead and saw alarming scenes in Dubai, which he described as scary.
Golf tensions escalated after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in an Israeli-US airstrike on Sunday, prompting Iran to retaliate in golfing countries. This emerging conflict has affected many Indians in the region, including athletes and tourists.
Now that Sindhu has returned safely to India, she is looking forward to taking time out and planning her next steps, considering the journey that has tested her stamina and patience.
