Big bang of Central Railway on Holi: 24 lakh passengers traveled in 862 special trains; See full report

Central Railway Holi Special Trains: In addition to its regular trains, Central Railway has run 862 Holi special trains to help passengers reach their destinations. According to Dr. Swapnil Neela, CPRO, Central Railway, these special trains include fully air-conditioned (AC) special, unreserved special, AC, sleeper and general second class coaches, which were operated to various destinations in the country.

7 lakh passengers traveled from Mumbai

Of these, 670 Holi special trains were run with 105.06% passenger capacity. It was told that Central Railway has run 409 trains within Maharashtra, 142 trains for Uttar Pradesh, 82 for Bihar and 21 special trains for Goa. Central Railway carried 24.18 lakh passengers through regular and special trains (including Holi special) in the 4 days (from February 27 to March 2) before the Holi festival. Of these, 7 lakh passengers were from Mumbai alone.

Special arrangements made for passengers

Central Railway has made extensive arrangements in view of the increasing number of passengers in this festive season. Holding area facilities, sheds, adequate lighting, ventilation, drinking water, fans, toilets, charging points, food stalls and passenger information system facilities at major stations like CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Pune etc. Effective crowd management with ticket checking staff and RPF personnel at major stations. Provision of help desks at many stations for guidance of passengers. Facility of mobile UTS assistants at CSMT. Regular announcements of train timings and other important information. Facilities like provision of queuing boarding for passengers etc. are included under the supervision of RPF and commercial staff.
