5 New Nissan SUVs For India: Tekton To Bridger-Based Sub-Compact SUV

After Nissan is all set to revive its India business. It was recently that the carmaker launched the Gravite compact MPV, kickstarting its revival journey. More exciting products, spanning segments and price ranges will join in the coming years. Here are five launches that we expect to see from Nissan in the time ahead.

Nissan Tekton And Tekton Hybrid

The next big launch from Nissan will be the Tekton SUV. Set to launch in mid 2026, this will be Nissan’s version of the recently-unveiled Renault Duster. Nissan hasn’t yet unveiled this C-segment SUV fully. What we do know is that the Tekton will not just be a rebadged Duster. The design will have Nissan’s global SUV design genes in it.

Key design highlights of the Tekton include C-shaped LED DRLs with connecting LED light bar, squared-off wheel arches, stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, clean side profile, and a stylish rear end with connected LED tail lamps. Nissan claims that portions of this design have taken inspiration even from the mighty Nissan Patrol. In short, enough visual differentiation can be expected from its platform sibling.

The Tekton is likely to get an upscale cabin and a long feature list. It will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, a 6-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, ADAS, and more.

The Tekton will share its platform and powertrains with the new Duster. It will be underpinned by a heavily localised version of the CMF-B platform, which Renault calls RGMP. Lower variants will likely be powered by a 1.0L turbocharged engine making around 98hp while higher variants will come with a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine, capable of generating 160hp and 280Nm.

The Tekton will also have a strong hybrid version. It remains to be seen if this would be available from day one or will be added later. The hybrid powertrain will have a 1.8L naturally aspirated, Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to a 1.4kWh battery pack and two electric motors, one of which will function as the generator while the other provides drive to the wheels. This setup will have an output of 158hp and 172Nm. There will be a strong focus on fuel efficiency.

Nissan’s Seven-Seater C-SUV And Its Hybrid Counterpart

The manufacturer has also committed an all-new seven-seater SUV for India. Expected to be out in early 2027, this SUV will be Nissan’s version of the Renault Boreal. The Boreal again, is a seven-seater SUV based on the new Duster’s platform. Very little is currently known about Nissan’s upcoming seven-seat compact SUV.

The company has made its clear that this product will not be a stretched-out version of the Tekton. It will be significantly longer than the Tekton and will have a longer wheelbase as well- sufficient enough to accommodate the third row comfortably. The design is also expected to draw inspiration from those of global models like the Patrol.

This product is expected to come with two engine options- the 1.3L turbocharged petrol from the Tekton and a 1.8L strong hybrid. The smaller 1.0L turbo-petrol is unlikely to be used on this vehicle. The exact power and torque figures of these engines remain under wraps at the time of writing.

In the Indian market, this SUV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Nissan’s Version Of Renault Bridger Concept-Based SUV

Renault has announced its intention to launch a second sub-four-metre SUV in India, in the coming months. It will be the production version of the Bridger concept that will be unveiled on March 10th in France.

The first images of this concept show the silhouette of a boxy, butch SUV that looks like a ‘mini Duster’ with a tailgate-mounted sparewheel. While the actual nature and positioning of this model remains unclear, some believe it to be a Jimny rival. It is too early to confirm or deny this claim. The product is specifically aimed at emerging markets like India.

We believe that Nissan will launch its own version of this SUV in the coming years. It will then sit between the Magnite and the Tekton in the company’s India portfolio.
